The easiest way to explain it is to first tie the hair into a pony tail leaving just the 2 part lines free. (that way, the rest of the hair won’t get in your way!)
Starting from the front, you take the first plug of hair at the front and cross it over in front of the opposite line of hair. Then take the first plug from the opposite line and cross that one over to the other side – that makes no sense I know!
Basically, “thatching” a parting is criss crossing the hair plugs over one another to create a nice tight parting.
I will hurry up and crack on with a video tutorial!
Fantastic videos and very helpful to say the least! I am now doing my first (knot method) reroot and hope that thatch video will be done soon as I have no idea how to do that. Your explanation of weaving though does help and will follow that explanation if the video isn’t done by the time I get to that. Thank you for all your great help!
eee I’m waiting for my first ever blythe in the post and as soon as she’s here I’ll be buying some nice shiney new hair from you and doing her a beautiful blue red hair do. So excited, these have been the most usful thing I’ve found online yet
Thank you so much for producing these tutorial videos. You have a gift for giving clear explanations.Up until yesterday I had no idea how much could be done to spruce up a doll so imagine how lucky I feel to have found your site.
You can use anything really – speciality doll hair is of a high quailty and therefore it is wonderfully soft, lies beautifully and is easy to style – cheaper hair (wig hair, kanekalon, clip in hair extensions etc) can be much stiffer which means it may stick up at the roots and be difficult to work with. Also is it worth bearing in mind that cheaper hair is often not heat resistant so you may have problems with styling (or indeed, you may not be able to style it at all)
However, having said all that, it is ideal for practising with!
I think i learned l because now my innocent barbie repros heads is completely bald with a MASSIVE hole in front darn kankelon, next time i wil buy hair from you! thankyou for the advice.
